New assignment roles: recruiter with full access and observer for read-only review
Observers see the candidate, documents and history, rate and take notes, but do not post and receive no chat notifications
Roles apply per listing and can be overridden for a single application
Jobmaps introduces two roles for assigned people. When someone adds a colleague to a listing or an application, they now decide whether that person works the candidate actively or only reviews. This brings in stakeholders like managers or line staff without flooding them with notifications.
What is the observer role?
The observer role gives an assigned person read-only access to an application or listing. Observers see the candidate, documents and the history so far, can rate and leave notes, but do not post in the candidate chat, cannot change the status and receive no notifications from the conversation.
The counterpart is the recruiter: full access, messages the candidate and receives notifications, exactly as an assigned person did before. Recruiter is the default when adding someone and can be switched to observer at any time. Every application and listing always keeps at least one recruiter.
How do you set a role per listing or application?
The role is chosen right when assigning someone and can be changed at any time. A role set at the listing level applies to all applications beneath it, but can be overridden for a single application.
This lets you share one specific application with a line manager or specialist for review, while the rest of the applications stay untouched. The role only governs what a person may do, not what they can see.
Why do inboxes get quieter?
Two changes noticeably reduce the number of emails. First, observers are not part of the candidate conversation and therefore receive no chat notifications. Second, Jobmaps no longer emails team colleagues when an internal person writes a message. The message stays visible to everyone in the tool, only the email is dropped.
Messages from applicants still notify the whole responsible team. Anyone who wants to unsubscribe from all notifications on a listing simply sets themselves or others to observer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can an observer do?
An observer can view, rate and add notes to an application or listing. They do not post in the candidate chat, cannot change the status, cannot edit the listing and receive no chat notifications.
What is the difference between recruiter and observer?
The recruiter has full access, messages the candidate and receives notifications. The observer only reviews. Every application always keeps at least one recruiter.
Does a role apply to a whole listing or a single application?
Both. A role set at the listing level applies to all applications beneath it, but can be overridden for a single application.
How do you unsubscribe from notifications on a listing?
By setting yourself or another person to observer. Observers receive no chat notifications. In addition, emails to team colleagues are dropped when an internal person writes a message.
