What Is the Z-TDI?
The Zurich Team Diagnosis Inventory (Z-TDI) is a scientific test developed at ZHAW's Department of Applied Psychology. It analyses your preferences in teamwork – based on three dimensions.
Developed at ZHAW, in collaboration with Jobmaps.
The result shows you:
What strengths you bring to a team
How you collaborate best with others
What to highlight in job applications
How are the ZTDI questions structured?
The test consists of 24 questions. For each question, you select on a 4-point Likert scale which of two statements better reflects you.
Who Is This Test For?
The Z-TDI is for anyone who wants to better understand their role in a team:
Job seekers: You can explain specifically what you bring to a team in interviews.
Career starters: Get to know yourself better – before you have to figure it out on the job.
Career changers: Show that you've thought about how you fit into a new team.
Already employed: Understand why some collaborations work smoothly – and others don't.
What Does the Z-TDI Measure?
The test analyses your teamwork preferences across three dimensions. You answer 24 questions – it takes about 5 minutes.
The result isn't a label like "you're the creative one". It shows you a profile: Where are your strengths? Where might you clash with others? What should you consider when job hunting?
You'll learn the exact dimensions after the test – along with an explanation of what they mean for you.
Z-TDI vs. Other Team Tests
There are many tests that measure team roles or personality types: Belbin, DISC, MBTI, Big Five. What makes the Z-TDI different?
| Aspekt | Z-TDI | Andere Tests |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Team preferences | Often personality in general |
| Scientifically validated | Yes (ZHAW, 2025) | Varies |
| Language | German (original) | Often translations |
| Free | Yes | Often paid |
| Length | 24 questions, 5 min. | Often 50–100+ questions |
How to Use Your Result
Your team type profile is more than a nice gadget. Here's how to put it to use:
In your CV: Add a sentence under "About me" or "Strengths" like: "I bring structure to the team and make sure tasks get completed."
In job interviews: When asked "How do you work in a team?", you'll have a solid answer – not just a vague "I'm a team player".
On LinkedIn: Your team type can be a good conversation starter. Or use the insights for your "About" section.
In your current job: Understand why you collaborate better with some colleagues than others. It's not a judgement – just a pattern.
