Role and responsibilities

Responsibility for advancing our mobile apps (Digitec & Galaxus) comes with room for creative ideas to enhance the consistency of the mobile shopping experience. Taking ownership of the entire app cycle includes continuously improving quality by addressing issues and planning and executing refactoring efforts. Opportunity to cross-collaborate on our iOS, Web Frontend, and Backend platforms as interests and skills develop. Within the team, the agile process is shaped collectively, focusing on small tasks with short iterations to maximize customer value. Supporting less experienced engineers in their daily work and actively sharing knowledge strengthens the team as a whole. Open, transparent, and clear communication is essential. Providing and receiving constructive feedback is encouraged.

Team / description

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years in Android development with demonstrable Kotlin expertise

  • Completed degree (university / university of applied science / higher technical college) in computer science (or equivalent relevant professional experience)

  • German (Very good knowledge)

  • English (Very good knowledge)

  • Passion for Android app development, along with expertise in Kotlin, Compose, Coroutines, MVVM, Hilt and Gradle is highly valued

  • Openness to working on an app that incorporates WebViews is important

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn other technologies such as Swift (iOS), React (Web Frontend), and .NET (Backend) as part of cross-platform collaboration

  • Familiarity with testing Android apps, including unit tests and UI tests, is expected

  • Strong understanding of agile software development principles is beneficial

  • Demonstrating the courage to take risks and act on convictions under uncertainty

  • A willingness to challenge «how things have always been done» and propose more efficient, automated or effective solutions

  • Either fluent German with English proficiency OR fluent English along with either existing German skills or a strong motivation to learn the language on the job with support from our education programs
