The models are flexible: permanent night shifts or rotations, from a small to a full-time workload鈥攊n residential and children's homes, 4 to 10 nights per month is a common model. Night work is additionally compensated. Requirements vary by field: night nursing needs a nursing qualification (HF or FaGe), care facilities require a social qualification, security services require an impeccable record.
At night one often bears sole responsibility for a ward or a house. Independent work, calmness in emergency situations, and solid German are therefore required everywhere.
