Role and responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach New Testament studies across the entire spectrum of topics and issues. A particular focus will be on research and teaching relating to the earliest Christian writings in the context of ancient Judaism. The professorship is based at the Department of Theology. A willingness to engage with the Swiss context is a prerequisite.

Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must have a doctorate in New Testament studies and, in the case of an associate professorship, a postdoctoral qualification or equivalent qualification.
They must have a proven track record of publications and teaching experience.
Proven competence in ancient Judaism and relevant source languages is also expected.
Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research, particularly with the Zurich Department of Ancient Studies, and the ability to communicate scientific findings to the general public are required.
A successful application requires identification with the principles of the University of Zurich, compatibility with the faculty's strategic areas of focus, willingness to participate in academic self-administration, and commitment to faculty and university services.
Excellent German language skills are a necessity to be able to take up the position.
