Role and responsibilities
You will be responsible for the establishment, strategic leadership, and ongoing development of an independent, internationally visible research program of high clinical and scientific relevance. The program will focus on the investigation, evaluation, and advancement of integrated care models along specific patient pathways that span professional and sectoral boundaries. Research activities will systematically integrate clinical, nursing science, and implementation science perspectives to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. Through your expertise and commitment, you advance the development of the academic-practice partnership between the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel and USB at INS. You further develop the foundations for nursing-led innovations and roles, particularly Advanced Nursing Practice (ANP) roles. Your responsibilities also include active participation in the INS Leadership Team, contributing to education, research, and local clinical development. In addition, you are involved in teaching within the Master's program in Nursing Science, supervise PhD students, and contribute to continuing and professional education, thereby fostering the development of your staff and colleagues.

University Hospital Basel (USB) is one of Switzerland's five academic medical centers, employing more than 7,000 staff and providing inpatient care to approximately 38,000 patients annually.
Qualifications and Skills
You have successfully completed a doctoral degree (PhD) in Nursing Science and can demonstrate a strong track record of research achievements in relevant fields.
You have an excellent publication record and a proven ability to secure competitive external research funding.
A strong interest in interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration is essential.
You bring substantial leadership experience, an established academic and clinical network, and excellent communication skills within an academic environment.
These qualities enable you to create an attractive and supportive workplace, inspire innovative thinking and action, and foster the professional development of your staff.
You are proficient in German or willing to acquire German language skills.
