Role and responsibilities
As part of our Engagement & Communications team, you will gain hands-on experience across the full range of internal and external communications activities at Swiss TPH. From content creation and visual design to event support, you will play an active role in how the institute communicates across channels and formats to diverse audiences. This is a unique opportunity to build your skills in a dynamic, international environment and contribute to strengthening the visibility and impact of a leading global health institute. Your various responsibilities include: Content creation: You will contribute to content for Swiss TPH's website, social media channels, Intranet and print materials in both English and German. This includes drafting and editing a wide range of formats - from social media posts and news articles to event announcements, internal communications and more. Stakeholder engagement: You will support engagement activities with a range of external stakeholders, including partners, donors, academic institutions and visiting delegations. This includes coordinating logistics, preparing materials. Visual and multimedia content: You will create visual materials such as infographics, short videos and social media graphics using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. Event communications and coordination: You will support the organization and communication of events such as symposia. This includes assisting with logistics and creating content for our digital channels. General communications support: You will contribute to a variety of day-to-day communications activities as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.

The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, education and services at local, national and international levels. 1'000 people from 96 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions.
Qualifications and Skills
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in communications, journalism, public/global health, media or a related field
A demonstrated interest in communications, public relations or event management
Fluent in both English and German
Digitally savvy, with a good grasp of social media platforms and an interest in visual and multimedia content
Organized and able to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
Bring creativity and attention to detail to your work – whether generating ideas, designing visuals, or finding the right tone for different audiences
A team player who enjoys collaboration and brings initiative and curiosity to your work
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing or CMS tools is an asset
