Storage Engineer / Storage Specialist

Role and responsibilities

As an experienced Storage Engineer, you take ownership of the stable, secure, and sustainable operation of critical storage services. You independently plan, prioritize, and implement complex tasks while actively shaping and evolving our storage landscape. You design and refine BCM-related storage processes and solutions to ensure availability, recoverability, and organizational resilience. With a strong awareness of risks, you actively work to eliminate single points of failure in critical services. In the area of long-term storage, you operate and continuously develop solutions on high-latency media. You ensure data integrity, long-term availability, and well-structured operational processes, supported by clear and thorough documentation. At the same time, you manage and optimize our SAN infrastructure. You collaborate closely with neighboring infrastructure and service teams, contributing to incident, change, and lifecycle processes, and ensuring the reliability and performance of the overall IT environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable field—or equivalent professional experience

  • Several years of experience operating critical IT infrastructures (Enterprise Storage, SAN, Long-Term Storage, Archiving, BCM)

  • Strong expertise in Enterprise Storage and Tape Storage

  • Advanced knowledge of SAN, Business Continuity Management, and Disaster Recovery

  • Experience with Linux (RHEL) and strong Bash scripting skills

  • Know-how in automation/scripting and structured operation of complex services

  • Experience with lifecycle and IT service management processes

  • Good German and advanced English skills
