Civil Engineer SCE-PPM-FC-2026-118-LD

📍 Geneva

Role and responsibilities

You will undertake concept and preliminary design and prepare and implement design and construction contracts for the detailed design and construction of the civil engineering required for the new FCC Injection Complex to be constructed at the CERN Site in Prevessin, France, subject to FCC project approval. The civil engineering consists of a cut and cover reinforced concrete structure over 1km long and a series of surface buildings to house ancillary technical infrastructure. Working with colleagues from the accelerator and infrastructure teams, prepare conceptual and preliminary layouts and designs for the Injector complex structures. Prepare technical specifications and other contract documents for the procurement of civil engineering consultancy services related to the injection complex. Manage contracts to develop tender designs and specification and play a lead role in the procurement of civil engineering contractors for the construction of the complex. Manage the technical aspects and participate in the commercial aspects of the contracts to deliver the complex.

Team / description

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. At CERN, we are pushing the frontiers of science and technology. Our groundbreaking work brings together not only physicists but also a diverse range of professionals from engineering, technical, scientific, and administrative fields. Together, we foster an environment where innovation and collaboration thrive. Every day, we face exciting new challenges and opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge research that shapes our understanding of the universe. We meet these challenges through the diverse perspectives within our teams, ensuring every contribution is valued and driving our shared sense of inclusion and purpose. Diversity is a core value of CERN since its foundation, and it remains central to our mission and continued success.
