Role and responsibilities

Gain expertise in existing spring design and calculation models (Excel/VBA), including knowledge transfer from two highly experienced Senior Engineers. Handle customer enquiries relating to specific spring types in collaboration with Project Management and Sales. Analyse and calculate spring designs, taking into account mechanical, electric, thermal and dynamic loading conditions. Support the development and enhancement of calculation tools (e.g. Python-based applications). Carry out technical evaluations and contribute to the documentation and standardisation of design processes. Develop in-depth application and process knowledge to become a trusted technical adviser for customers. Participate in customer meetings and work closely with customers' design and development engineers. Support the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process.

Team / description

To ensure the long-term retention and development of our technical expertise, we are seeking a Product Engineer specialising in contact elements and technical springs. In this key role, you will take responsibility for selected spring types, respond to customer enquiries, and support technical projects in close collaboration with our Senior Engineers. The focus is on developing into a trusted technical advisor who combines deep engineering expertise with strong customer engagement, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. You will act as a technical point of contact for internal departments and customers, with the opportunity to independently manage customer projects in the medium term.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable discipline

  • Strong knowledge of mechanics, strength of materials and materials science (particularly steel and heat treatment)

  • Advanced Excel skills (including complex formulas and VBA); some knowledge of Python would be advantageous

  • Experience with CAD software (e.g. Creo, SolidWorks), FEA (ANSYS, including non-linear analysis), metrology and statistical analysis

  • Understanding of product development processes within the automotive industry (APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, etc.)

  • Excellent written and spoken English is required and will be the primary working language within the Global Product Engineering team.

  • German is advantageous and beneficial for collaboration with Production and local stakeholders.

  • Strong learning agility and curiosity, with a desire to develop deep expertise over time
