Role and responsibilities
Lead development of medium‑ and long‑term energy transition scenarios Analyze impacts of electrification, hydrogen, storage, and market design Translate policy, technology, and climate drivers into modeling assumptions Advance capacity expansion and system planning methodologies and tools Improve optimization formulations, algorithms, and computational workflows Perform advanced power system studies, including dynamics and fault analysis Assess integration of inverter‑based resources and grid‑forming controls Bridge strategic planning models with detailed technical network studies

At Hitachi Energy, you help define how future power systems will be planned, built, and operated. As Senior Expert in Energy System Modelling and Advanced Power System Analysis, you play a key role in shaping the company’s perspective on the global energy transition. Within the Market Innovation function and the Power Systems of the Future research program, you lead complex analytical work at the intersection of long‑term system planning, market design, and detailed technical grid analysis. You translate disruptive trends such as, renewables, electrification, sector coupling, inverter‑based resources into robust scenarios, advanced models, and actionable insights.
Qualifications and Skills
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Computer Science, or similar; or MSc with 3+ years of relevant professional experience
Deep expertise in energy system modeling and scenario analysis
Strong knowledge of mathematical optimization and advanced simulations
Proven experience with steady‑state, dynamic, and short‑circuit studies
Solid understanding of converter‑dominated and inverter‑based resources
Advanced programming skills in Python and MATLAB/Simulink
Hands‑on experience with tools such as PowerFactory, PSS®E, or PSCAD
Ability to mentor others and contribute to technical leadership
