Project Control Engineer for Power Converters

Role and responsibilities

Project planning of hardware and software for power electronic converters including preparation of concept, specification and documentation. Technical coordination between customer, sub-suppliers and our own factory. Defining the hardware interfaces including evaluation of electrical components, calculation and design review. Responsible for the implementation of the control software including testing on the real-time simulator. Perform commissioning and customer training on site. Support the sales department during the concept and tender phase. Assisting customers on technical issues of the converter during office hours and on-call duty service (24x7) several weeks per year and performing commissioning / customer training on site. Collaborate with your colleagues from the control, system- and mechanical engineering team as well as the project manager.

At our competence center “Power Converter Solutions”, we have a leading position in the development, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of high power electronic converters mainly for STATCOM and rail power supply systems. We also provide solutions for hydro pump stations and grid interties. With the help of our highly efficient converters, we contribute to the integration of renewable energies into the electrical grid of tomorrow and at the same time increase the overall system efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (university / technical college, Bachelor or Master)

  • Working experience in process control and software design (OLC, CLC, Protection, HMI)

  • Ability to code in Python is a plus

  • Knowledge on communication protocols (OPC, IEC61850, IEC60870-5-104, DNP3, etc.)

  • Comprehensive knowledge in the field of control engineering and power electronics

  • You are fluent in German and English

  • You have experience in testing and commissioning and enjoy global traveling and commissioning (15% of the working time)

  • Responsible team player with strong communication skills
