Transport, Trade & Logistics Specialist Domestic

Role and responsibilities

Plan, organize, and monitor domestic transportation of goods, including selection of carriers, negotiation of rates and optimization of routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency. Prepare and process all necessary documentation for domestic shipments, such as packing lists and forwarding orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., production, sales, warehousing) and external stakeholders (e.g., carriers or customers) to ensure smooth logistics operations. Track and trace domestic shipments, proactively identifying and resolving any delays, issues, or discrepancies. Manage and maintain relationships with domestic carriers and logistics service providers, evaluating performance and ensuring adherence to service level agreements. Ensure compliance with all relevant domestic transportation laws, regulations, and company policies. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for domestic logistics processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve service levels. Handle domestic freight claims and resolve shipping discrepancies with carriers. Participate in logistics-related projects and initiatives as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Swiss Apprenticeship or Higher Education (in the area of transport)

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in domestic transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Strong understanding of domestic transportation modes and their associated regulations.

  • Proficiency in logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP).

  • Good negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal in German and English.

  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Knowledge of dangerous goods regulations for domestic transport is a plus.
