Role and responsibilities
Drive, and support where needed, the conceptualization and execution of initiatives to realize goals including adding to Business Operating Profit (“BOP”) [100m p.a. in five years] with a mid-teens IRR as per internal guidelines while managing capital strain (Risk Based Capital requirement) to an acceptable level. Deliver a global, risk-aware perspective to business growth with a strong ability to get things done by balancing customer needs, financial content, organizational matters and stakeholder management and working closely with Product Proposition and other team members as needed. Support the setting and execution of Group strategy as it pertains to Savings and Retirement and capital efficient solutions in particular. Develop existing market proposition in cooperation with BUs and Group departments and explore, shape and develop new propositions where possible – building the business case from the ground up if needed and securing stakeholder support as well analytics to support where needed – on the latter working closely with the Structuring Analytics team members to determine how best to organize and disseminate analysis (build, borrow or buy – internal or external). Champion best practice technology and execution leveraging existing and new capabilities to achieve operational synergies where possible to further support growth and profitability and to improve transparency, scalability, time to market and execution. Challenge constructively and creatively, helping teams converge on clear decisions and pragmatic solutions.
Team / description
The Capital Efficient Savings & Retirement team is part of the Savings & Retirement team which is part of Life, Health and Bank Distribution. Our focus is on on-balance sheet products that may carry significant capital amounts and finding ways to efficiently provide these through the BUs so we can grow our life business and retain more customers as they move from the accumulation to the decumulation phases of life. The team has a flat structure and is effectively organized in two parts (where clearly there is some overlap and the intention is not to silo tasks, but to help organize work): Proposition and Structuring Analytics.
Qualifications and Skills
Team player who understands that the team is more than the sum of its parts.
Proven experience (15+ years) in delivering complex project / business builds in multi-jurisdictional, financial services organisations
Ability to engage with, and lead, specialists across technical (i.e. finance, actuarial, investments) and operational domains
Excellent communication, organizational and influencing skills
Self-starter, resilient, problem solver
Commercial, ambitious and outcomes focused with a clear vision and ability to communicate it
Experience across a range of organisations e.g. large-cap, start-up, private equity etc, a plus
Experience working in different delivery models set-ups e.g. waterfall, agile etc., a plus
Experience working with modern technology (e.g. fintech, AI etc.) as well as working with technical specialists a plus
German, Italian or Spanish in addition to English a plus
