Senior System Engineer

Role and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership for payload systems while delivering systems engineering oversight of international suppliers through design, build, integration, and delivery. This role serves as a key technical interface between payload engineering, suppliers, and internal spacecraft teams, ensuring system‑level alignment, requirements compliance, and successful integration of externally developed hardware. The day-to-day includes serving as systems engineering support for payload development, supporting supplier procurements by defining technical requirements, providing technical and systems oversight of international suppliers throughout design, manufacturing, integration, and test, reviewing and assessing supplier designs, leading technical interchange meetings, ensuring alignment between supplier deliverables and spacecraft system constraints, managing payload‑related interfaces, supporting payload and system‑level verification, identifying supplier‑driven technical risks, communicating supplier technical status, and mentoring other engineers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience

  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience, including externally sourced or supplier‑developed hardware

  • Strong experience supporting payload systems or complex spacecraft subsystems

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee supplier technical execution across international partnerships

  • Deep understanding of requirements‑driven development, interface control, and verification closure

  • Ability to operate independently as a technical authority across organizations and cultures

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for complex technical discussions
