Compliance Verification Engineer – Avionics & Electrical Systems / Deputy & potential Successor COoA

Role and responsibilities

Develop and review project certification documents (Certification Plan, Compliance Matrix, and Certification Reports) in collaboration with the COoA and other project CVEs. Verify and approve compliance demonstration documentation within his/her area of expertise. Coordinate project-related certification matters on assigned projects with certification authorities, engineering, and Technical Project Leaders, acting as the OoA point of contact. Maintain expertise in avionics, electrical systems, and applicable airworthiness regulations. Mentor junior CVEs and design engineers, and witness testing within his/her field of expertise. Support design and new project activities as required. Act as liaison between the Design Organisation and Competent Airworthiness Authorities, including coordination of certification matters, leading failure evaluations, and coordinating airworthiness directives. Monitor regulatory changes and ensure their implementation in Design Organisation Expositions, procedures, and forms, while supporting design assurance, staff guidance, and training.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: BSc, MSc, or equivalent in Electrical, Avionics, or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in the certification of designs and design changes for electrical and avionics systems, including recognition as an EASA-approved CVE within a Part 21J DOA organisation

  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of ARP4754/4761, AC 25.1309, FHA/SSA, DO-160/178/254, EWIS, and Human Factors, as well as a thorough understanding of EASA and/or EMAR Part 21 Subpart J (DOA) requirements

  • Skills: Strong analytical and assessment skills, high reliability with excellent attention to detail and accuracy, strong capability in negotiating and executing certification paths, and excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Languages: Excellent command of English, German is an advantage

  • Career Perspective: Ability to develop into the role of COoA as successor to the current COoA (retirement)
