Sr. Manager, Process Engineering

Role and responsibilities

The Sr. Manager, Process Engineering provides strategic and technical leadership for manufacturing and process engineering activities supporting DePuy Synthes operations. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining robust manufacturing processes that ensure quality, efficiency, and scalability. The position plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement, enabling new product introductions, and supporting business growth within a regulated medical device environment. Lead and develop a team of process engineers responsible for manufacturing process design, optimization, and sustainment. Establish and execute process engineering strategies aligned with business, quality, and operational objectives. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity. Partner cross‑functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D;, and Operations to support production performance and new product introductions. Provide technical oversight for process validations, equipment qualifications, and change management activities. Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable regulatory, quality system, and company requirements. Analyze process performance data to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities. Support capital projects, automation initiatives, and technology upgrades to improve operational capability.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Chemical, or related discipline)

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process engineering or manufacturing engineering

  • Prior people leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, process validation, and continuous improvement methodologies

  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment

  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and influence stakeholders

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non‑technical audiences

  • Language: English required

  • Travel: Up to 15% domestic travel

  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent preferred

  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, or life sciences manufacturing preferred

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured improvement methodologies preferred

  • Experience supporting new product introductions and scale‑up activities preferred

  • Knowledge of automation, equipment integration, and advanced manufacturing technologies preferred

  • Experience leading capital projects or large‑scale process improvements preferred
