Role and responsibilities

Define specifications for Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE), including lifting devices, transport cradles, integration supports, and cleanroom‑specific mechanical tooling. Perform preliminary CAD modelling of MGSE concepts. Carry out mechanical calculations related to strength, stiffness, and tolerances. Dimension equipment in compliance with applicable space standards (e.g. ESA, ECSS). Perform structural and stress analyses (e.g. FEM). Verify mechanical interfaces between MGSE and spacecraft. Prepare and maintain technical justification and analysis files. Interface with external suppliers and subcontractors throughout the manufacturing process. Review and validate manufacturing drawings. Follow fabrication activities at workshop level. Plan and supervise MGSE load tests. Perform functional verifications of equipment. Validate MGSE under real operational conditions, including cleanroom environments. Provide on‑site support during spacecraft integration campaigns. Write handling, safety, and operational procedures. Ensure compliance with applicable space standards and requirements. Participate in technical reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.). Work closely with satellite system engineers, AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) teams, quality and safety departments, and external suppliers.
