Lab Automation Specialist - Analytics

Role and responsibilities

The Lab Automation Specialist is responsible for automating laboratory systems and workflows ensuring seamless integration of automation technologies to enhance lab efficiency, accuracy and throughout. Support the development, implementation and management of lab automation systems, including liquid handlers, robotic arms and LIMS. Collaborate with TES AI/automation group, scientist, engineers and IT teams to identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline laboratory process. Design and optimise automated workflows for sample preparation, analysis, and data management. Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimise automation equipment and software to ensure reliability and operational continuity. Ensure integration of automation systems with existing lab information management (LIMS), electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs) and data integration. Train lab personnel on the proper use of automated systems and ensure compliance with SOP and safety standards. Together with TES automation lead manage end-to-end automation projects, including planning, validation, deployment, and post-implementation support.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor or Master degree in life sciences, engineering or computer science

  • 3+ years in lab automation

  • Hands on experience with lab automation platforms such as Tecan, Hamilton, or Beckman Coulter

  • Strong programming/scripting skills in languages such as Python

  • Familiarity with ELN, LIMs and data integration tools for Lab data management

  • Familiarity with GLP/GMP and regulated laboratory environments

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
