There are child care positions in day-care centers, after-school care, and day structures—within cities and municipalities, private child-care providers, and chains. The job: care for and support children from infancy to primary school age, shape the daily routine, and collaborate with parents. This is complemented by group and site management roles with leadership responsibility.
The standard qualification is the EFZ as a Child Care Specialist, specialization in Children; apprenticeships for this are continually advertised. In addition, there are positions as co-educator or pedagogical assistant without EFZ. For leadership roles, a higher education qualification or relevant work experience with leadership responsibilities is usually expected.
Part-time work is common. Good German is important—you are a language role model; bilingual kindergartens specifically seek people with German and French.
