Team / Beschreibung

The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) combines basic and clinical research to advance the understanding of vision and its diseases and to develop new therapies for vision loss. The Retinal and Macular Degeneration Clinical Research Group conducts translational and clinical research in retinal disease with the goal of advancing novel therapies to patients. The group studies how retinal diseases progress over time, develops AI-based imaging tools and predictive models, and contributes to the development of new therapeutic strategies. Its work connects early-stage therapeutic development with large-scale clinical collaboration across more than 25 international partner sites in Europe, North America, and Asia, helping to translate laboratory discoveries into clinical applications.
