Rolle und Verantwortlichkeiten

Build and ship forecasting models that solve real energy-sector problems with a sharp focus on safety, scalability, and production robustness. You'll experiment freely: tuning hyperparameters, benchmarking architectures, and proposing novel approaches. Design and build data pipelines that process large-scale time-series data reliably and efficiently, forming the backbone of model training and deployment workflows. Explore and analyze data to surface hidden patterns, engineer high-signal features, and push forecasting accuracy further. Work AI-natively – integrate AI tools into your daily development practice to sharpen analysis, accelerate iteration, smoothen workflows and improve efficiencies. Collaborate and communicate across teams, gather feedback from stakeholders, and make sure your work connects meaningfully to the broader business mission.

Team / Beschreibung

At Swissgrid, we don't just observe the energy transition, we engineer it. As the operator of Switzerland's national transmission grid, we sit at the nexus of a rapidly evolving European electricity market. Our Market Optimization & Decision Support team develops forecasting and automation solutions that directly support grid operators in their 24/7 mission to ensure a reliable power supply. By joining us, you will contribute to impactful work at the heart of Switzerland’s electricity system.

Qualifikationen und Fähigkeiten

  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.

  • Strong Python skills and solid software engineering instincts – version control, clean code, and reproducible workflows are second nature to you.

  • A genuine understanding of classical ML, statistical methods, time-series modeling, and predictive systems. Hands-on experience with libraries like Scikit-learn, PyTorch, or MLflow is a plus; familiarity with Apache Spark is a bonus.

  • You use GenAI tools to build things, not just to ask questions. Show us what you've already shipped.

  • Knowledge of transmission grid operations or electricity markets is a plus – but your drive to learn matters more.

  • Curiosity, agency, and a growth mindset. If you're the kind of person who gets energized by hard problems and wants your work to matter.
