Chemist

The Chemist will contribute to new technology identification and the development of proof of concepts for new products including: Planning, organizing, performing and analyzing experimental work; Literature monitoring, IP, and competitors technology monitoring; Documenting, presenting and discussing results autonomously; Collaborating with adjacent groups within R&D; Collaborating with external partners; Contributing to the development of the in-product marking group.

SICPA is developing advanced fuel marking technologies combining molecular markers with a sophisticated IT platform helping governments and companies to fully track, trace and monitor the distribution of hydrocarbon products and to quickly detect illicit activities through the most advanced security technologies.

• Master’s degree in chemistry, physical chemistry, materials science or biochemistry (PhD is a plus)

• Experience in the design and optimization of chemical sensing systems and in particular with optical transducers

• Proven skills in molecular spectroscopy such as UV-Vis absorption and/or fluorescence as well as experimental design and mathematical and statistical tools for spectral analysis

• Strong knowledge in at least one of the following fields: switchable (photo)materials, low MW chemicals sensing, ligand receptor interactions, functionalized nanoparticles for sensing purposes, supramolecular self-assembly, functional organometallic compounds

• Curious, innovative, rigorous, problem solving oriented and a team player

• Fluent in English and French
